If you have improved the accuracy, fit, form or function for your intended purpose, have no intention of attempting to resell it for any significant value, and aren't bothered by "destroying a piece of history" (others words not mine!) then you have succeeded and probably had alot of fun getting there!

But its like 120 dollars. I could get another one. I wanted to make this a usable hunting rifle not a collection piece

I have two bubbafied Enfields in .303 British. Someone modified them long before me and I'm glad they did. Both are outstanding deer rifles and have served me well for over 20 years. Yes they lost their collectors value but so what? Great rifles should be used and not sit on shelf. Modifying those rifles ensured that they remained functional and in use.

There's nothing wrong putting up an old rifle in pristine shape, but most old military rifles are anything but pristine. So I wouldn't think twice about hacking one up.

Did you take that deer on the property you have marked, was it a bow or gun kill?
It is a nice deer no matter where you took it, but taking it that close to Ardmore, OK is something special. It most likely followed those RXR tracks into town.
Here in Indiana we have a season just for urban deer hunting but it is bow only & you have to take a doe before you can take a buck.
Congrats on that good looking deer!

It was taken on our land. It wasn't in Ardmore. We own about 1,000 acres on the Red River. This buck was taken with my rifle. My other big buck was taken with my Bow.
