I am going doe hunting. I tried to boil horns until they were soft enough to eat, it never happened. In NC we get bonus tags for shooting does.

GA,

Nice Old Buck! How long have you been hunting him!
Yep! I am off to Texas the first week of November! Will not be long! Just seems like it. I must get the old Remington 700 CDL 7MM Rem Mag. Tuned up and checked out. Probably this next week I will get her out and verify Zero.

Determining what ammo my new rifle likes - check.

Now I need to re-zero using the 180gr CoreLokts and practice shooting from the kneeling and standing positions.

Now that's a buck!!!

I just put my third doe in the freezer so I'm set for meat for the year. Now it's time to go head hunting, and I'd be happy with one half that size.

I have been watching him ever since he was in velvet. We also have two bucks with split main beams. One on the left and one on the right. Now it's my wife's turn. I have a big old dominant buck for her. They was all at my feeder when I got mine. That was his name. "Mine".

Here is one of the split main beams.

GA very nice! I'm home off the boat for almost the first two weeks of our four week firearm deer season. Opening day is Oct 27th I think and I'm home Oct 31 - Nov 12. I'll be taking to the power lines with my Camo Savage Axis XP with 3-9x40 Bushnell spitting Federal Power Shok 150gr soft points. If the power lines let me down and I have to take to the woods I'll probably fall back on my 1974 Ithaca Deer slayer with Federal Tru-Ball slugs.

Can't wait to get out and hopefully score the main ingredient in deer jerky.

Best of luck to everyone and stay safe!

That's sweet. Rifle season starts a week before thanksgiving. I'll be taking my custom Rem .260 HS Precision stock,Hart Barrel,Badger Ordance 20 MOA Rail,Wyatt Detachable Mag,Leupold Mark 4 6.5x20x50 TMR scope,Badger Ordance over sized blot knob. A real tact driver. But I won't shoot anything under 500 yards. I go for long distance with it. I shoot 1,000 yards with it. It's only fair to the Deer. Lol

I "choot 'em" even if it gives 'em powder burns. The closest so far was about 10 yards. He was more worried about the beagles behind him than what was in front of him.
