I love dove hunting. You don't have to sit in a blind or a tree all day. If my lab wasn't so afraid of the sound of my guns she would be perfect. Everytime she sees me come out the house with my 12ga she runs under my grandmas house

I have a new Weatherby Vanguard S2 in .308 that has never been shot. I am heading to the range this Saturday to break in the barrel, zero my scope and see what ammunition it likes. Sadly, I live near the People's Republic of Chicago and have to drive an hour to hit a decent range.

I am psyched...started day-dreaming about it earlier this week actually. Also gotta pick my skull clean from last year's 8pt...my first full rack and skull.

I'll be sporting my trusty 6.5 Swedish. Been my go to for almost 10 years now...if it works perfect, no need to fix it.

I'm suddenly experiencing rack envy!

We use to have deer like that, but it's rare now. I do miss hunting a deer rather than deer hunting. It's almost like hunting a different species. I guess I'll just have to be content with quantity?

I did go out and play with a couple doves last weekend. It was just enough to remind be why I don't dove hunt; it's too freaking hot!!!

I have to sight in a few scopes as I did some work on the rifles this past spring and summer. My 7mm Rem Mag is going to go out this year. I always get my buck when I take it out. I spend more time hunting waterfowl these days. Replaces all the lines on my decoys at the end of last season, so I'm good to go. Start out w/ a little crow hunting to get back in the groove.

Don't feel bad there aren't many big bucks around here except for a monster buck that has gone completely nocturnal.
I know cause my dad almost hit him last year. A 14 pointer and big. Well anyways all I usually see are does with a few average size bucks.
Waiting on next weekend to go dove hunting. Much much cooler

Find a scrape line close to those does and he'll be buy when the rut kicks in! But you might have to let a few of those average bucks walk to get to him? Those big ones are tough. They really are like hunting a different species, and I miss it.
