I have a 1939 tula hex receiver 91/30. It shoots very well with Brown Bear 203 gr SP ammo. The 91/30 was rifled to shoot 200+ gr ammo. Some people say it doesn't matter with modern ammo. I have my doubts. If rifling makes a difference in what 5.56 x 45 ammo one would select, rifling should make a difference in a much heavier and longer 7.62 x 54r bullet you select.
I got my 91/30 early in the game. I went through several cases of rifles until I found a rifle that worked smoothly and showed little signs of use. I bought my rifle locally. I paid $135 for it. At the time hex rifles were a little less expensive online but I got to hand pick a rifle. Online the best you can hope for is the best of 5 photos.
