My pref is for 1:12 they shoot 147-169 very well. 1:10 is more friendly with 160-220. I find 1:12 far more useful in 308 as the small case capacity really doesn't lend well to 170+ loadings.

I have a old 788 rem with a 1-10 twist barrel that seems to prefer longer 150 to 165gr bullets but 125gr NBTwill still shot moa too if I have a good day shooting . I have not shot any bullet over that weight .

I use a 1:11.2 in my .308. I prefer 180gr bullets and 1:11.2 seems about perfect for that. It's also does a good job with lighter bullets.

My 1:12 twist shoots 150gr and 180gr into 1/2", so anything up to 180gr I see no reason to use anything different.
