I have a guy that wants to sell me a 45 cal. Winchester model 94. Says its still new in the bow. What's a fair price?

I would start at $750 and let him take you to $1000. They sell new at full retail for $1299. I assume you mean 45/70. Or is it .45 long colt? I know it's not .45 acp though. ;)

He said 45 colt which many people call long colt. Does it have that ugly safety button on it? They msrp for 1200 bucks. I had one and I liked it but I damn sure wouldn't give that kind of money for one. Winchester's out of their minds.

the 94 action is a poor choice for short cartridges like the 45 colt.

The 45 Colt is a long pistol cartridge or are you saying the 94 is better suited for rifle cartridges.

the 94 action was designed for full length rifle cartridges like 32-40, 38-55, and 30-30. winchester had the excellent 92 action for the short pistol calibers. years ago winchester made a few 94's in 44 mag and people learned then what a poor choice that was and the 44 mag was discontinued after only making a few guns.

Like ny other gun, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pasy for it.

I have one of those "more or less rare" versions in .44 Magnum. I've never looked up thr book value, but I don't think I'd turn down $500 for it.
