Honestly, Trez,

I'll be damned if I can figure it out.

I bought mine on a whim, thinking "I'll just fire about five or six

rounds through it,then clean it up really good and put it away."

Then I got it down the range, and put 80+ rounds through it the first

day. I got the Mosin bug, and now it's one of my favorite range guns.

Please don't ask me to explain why, it's just fun.

Does anyone else's 91/30 get like super hot around the fore end? Mine gets hot enough it's uncomfortable to hold. I do mean steady if not rapid fire, like 20 rounds in 5 minutes or less. Is this normal?

Can't say with any certainty if it's normal or not but mine gets hot like that too.

I would expect that type of result. My sks gets pretty warm after a steady run and my .243 gets plain hot so a large caliber rifle with a high speed bullet... yeah... it probably will get hot...

Perfectly normal, 20 rounds in 5 min is enough to make most barrels hot.

I traded all my Mosin Nagants for a truck.

It's the only long rifle that I've fired like that, other than M16A2, M16A4 and SAW. So I didn't know. I know the SAW can get hot as hell, I got the burns to prove it when I was a lowly Private.
