That's the one I was looking for. I want the poster to hang on the wall.

I just picked one up today. Stamped 1943 and the numbers match.
I don't have any 7.62 ammo though so I'll have to start stocking up on that caliber now. I may swing out tomorrow and pick up a box or two of what they have at the store and go plinking tomorrow if the weather is good.

Most retail places will have new production ammo (if they have it at all) which is non corrosive, but is comparable to regular rifle ammo prices. Like 17-25 bucks per box of 20. Now the corrosive milsurp ammo that you can mail order or pick up at a gun show is real cheap. Like 40-80 bucks for a tin of 440 rounds (depending on where you get it) and 120-200 for a crate, which is 2 tins at 880 rounds total, again depending on where and who you get it from.

The milsurp shoots perfectly fine, just make sure you clean it good. I use windex, hoppes #9, and an abundance of elbow grease.

I hear ya on that one! I was at the other local shop a few months ago and I had to shake my head at their price. On one of the gun racks side by side was a Argentine Mauser I believe in superb condition selling for $150 and next to it was a poor condition M1 Carbine for around $700 .

In the 80's it was SMLEs $70 and ammo was cheap. In the 60s it was M1 carbines REALLY cheap and they were giving the ammo away. In the 50's you could mail order a nazi Luger or a 1911 for $10 or an '03 for about the same. All the milsurps have their accessible time then the supply dries up and the price goes up and then they cost too much to shoot. Enjoy them in their time.

Maybe when DoD issues "Phasers" I'll be able to get a 2011 Vintage M4 for $100.... WHAT a deal!!!!

It's the only rifle I have that cost $100 and can hit a metal gong at 500 yards.
