My dad had a Remington 870 Gamemaster .270. Shot my first deer with it and hunted the rest of the season with it then I went out and bought a left handed Browning A-Bolt 30-06, been shooting it ever since and love it! However, now I also hunt with a H&R 45-70 during primitive season here in Louisiana.

Marlin (Glenfield) Model 20 .22 caliber S-L-LR bolt action rifle. This rifle was the first gun I ever owned. My parents bought it for me on my 12th Christmas (1969) from Roses (24.95). My dad would take me out; usually to my grandma Riggan's in Warren County to shoot it at tin cans and such. When he considered that I could handle it safely, he let me take it out in the woods and shoot it by myself. I usually went down behind the church off Harriet St. In Henderson to shoot it. I bagged several squirrels, rabbits, quail and lots of songbirds (shame on me) with it when I was 13 years old. - See more at: http://s285.photobucket.com/user/sniper762/media/GUNS/M20.jpg.html?sort=3&o=28#sthash.wZm877KH.dpuf

The first 'firearm' I recall shooting was an OLD single shot 22 with a lever which pulled a block down out of the way to load. I think it was a Remington but I am not sure. When I say it was OLD I MEAN OLD. I would bet it was 50+ years old in the 60's. Great little gun though. My grandpa would give me a 22 short and tell me if I brought back a rabbit he would give me another bullet. When I missed shooting was over for that day!

Ithaca M49, 22 cal, lever, single shot. Not my first shoot but my first own shooter (Other than my BB guns). Still have it today and it still kills varmints and vermin perfectly. That thing and I have been around the horn together, it was always in my pack when I went fishing or camping. It was a gift from one of my Dads friends when I was 11. They are selling for nearly twice what they cost brand new now, I will never sell it!
