What type of rifle is this?
 

Inherited from Grandfather. Don't know what it is, heard was a 32 caliber rim fire. Took pictures of markings on the firearm, and that is all I got. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Thomas

I have no idea, though if it was posted in the Rifle Section or possibly the Curio and Relic Section, you may get an answer.

Never seen one likeit exactly, but it has features common to French and Belgian rifles of the late 19th century. Some one who can decipher the proof marks can tell more closely.

Well thats more than I got it for. LOL! If it was not my Grandfathers I would think about selling it. I remember my GF talking about it when I was a child , He said it was passed to him by his Grandfather. Never shot by him, but he did see it shot by his GF.

This looks to me to be an authentic hand made rifle . Many were made by gunsmiths in the 1800's before assembly lines and parts standardizing .
The handwork looks good .

I suspect that it is a Flobert "parlor rifle". Uses a primer powered rimfire
round.


eta: Found one very similar on one of the auction sites. They called the action a "warnant
action".

Bill nailed that one. Shape of the trigger guard always catches my eye. The Flobert action is not intended to fire rounds with any real pressure- cartridges were round ball, primer only, no powder, indoor plinking. Have seen them in .22 up thru 9mm.

Ditto on the Belguim Flobert.
