Tossup between the AR7 and a 6.5 Italian Carcano.

I DID encounter a rare travesty- the US Army M231 Firing Port Weapon, for use in the Bradley M2. Imagine an M16. No stock, no sights, full auto only, loaded with only lightweight tracer, and a 1200 RPM rate of fire. Useless as a crocheted condom.

Remington 7600. I don't get pump action rifles. I have a friend with several and I usually don't ask to shoot them.

Taurus semi auto 22lr rifle. Bad copy of the Winchester 63. The insides looked like they were machined with a hammer and chisel. A dull chisel.

Actually I bought a used AR7 from a pawn shop. I returned it the same day because it would not chamber a round.

Mossberg Plinkster is the worse gun I have ever shot. I love Mossberg shotguns but I am skeptical of their rifles. The Plinksters I have handled cut the tip off the bullet when they chambered a round. Damaging the ammo is unacceptable.

Remington 742 Woodsmaster in 30-06. Lots of jamming issues, cheap construction, not worth a damn after first shot. A cheaply made gas gun

They are popular down here with the hunting crowd but I am not a fan . I lump them in with the pump action 7600. Good ideas but rifles are not meant to be built on a shotgun frame. The triggers are terrible as well. If you want a dedicated semi-auto hunting rifle get a BAR.

When I have range duty at my gun club during public shooting, I split my time between un-jamming 742's and showing new AR15 owners how to leave the bolt open so we can inspect. In fact I am a recent AR15 owner, but have been taking them apart and fixing them for a while now. The 742's were simply not built correctly, and I think the longer-action calibers are the worst. The bolt eats the receiver with every shot - not a good concept to be sure. Guess that's why they stopped making them

+1 on the BAR, do not own one but I do like them

I have 3 7400 and I haven't had any problems. I think they are nicer than the 742 or whatever they are. I don't really care for them because I prefer bolt action rifles.
