I would buy a CD or put the money in the bank until the current panic passes. Right now is the worst time to buy a gun. Unless you are known as a gun collector in your area and people bring guns to you when they are desperate for cash I would just wait.

How about a Ruger Gunsite Scout in .308? A Winchester 1895 perhaps?

I love the Ruger Gunsite but I just cant find them anywhere. As for the handloading setup I do have one, I just got it a couple months ago. I also like the idea of the 45-70 that'll be a gun that's a whole lot of fun. Thanks for the responses guys keep em comin

What ever happened to the importation of Garands and M1 carbines that were supposed to be coming back from Korea? Had heard that Bozo in Chief had executive ordered that deal off, but my elected legislator, Harkin of Iowa. sent an answer to one of my letters, that the deal was a go. Anybody see them yet?

I'm a little short on rifles, myself. Been looking around. Been thinking a bolt action in a slightly softer shooting caliber than 30-06/.308 - like a .270 or .243.
Saw a Winchester model 70 in 30-06 today at a gunshow todeay - tempting. But I'm still thinking softer than 30-06 would be good.
Comments or mind changers welcome.

If you think you might like a lever gun, a Marlin 336 in.30-30 or an 1895 in 45.70 will fill the bill. Everybody should have at least one lever rifle.

I know the feeling. Trying to figure out what rifle to get myself. The 30-06 just kicks too much for me to enjoy a day at the range. I can't find 308 ammo no where. Its like they just stopped making it all together, so I'm scared to buy one for that reason. But on the same hand I want something I can take mule deer and elk down with. Decision decisions
