Default ~ Another late bloomer here . . .

I didn't buy my first gun till my early twenties. My first rifle, handgun and shotgun below and in that order. The rifle and shotgun were purchased at Sears Roebuck and the revolver at a gun shop. I still have them all after many decades and all in excellent shape . . . wish I could say the same for myself!

About the same as Oneolevet, Daisy Red Ryder age 7 (1947), Marlin 39A age 11 or 12. Still have most of the Daisy, less buttstock, shoot the Marlin 39A now & again.

Default 1st gun

My 1st gun was a model 90 winchester pump 22 WRF.My father gave it to me when I was 10. That was in 1948. I later traded that for a ruger 357 mag blackhawk with a 4 5/8 barrel.
That 22 wrf was a nice little bullet, kind of half way between a 22 long rifle and the newer 22 mag.I did not shoot it much because they were expensive.Like $.90.That was alot back then.
I still have my dads 1st gun which was a mossberg 22 bolt action that still looks like new.He bought that in 1920.
Back in the 60's I was a gunsmith and had my own gun shop in Kingston NH.

Default My first gun

I would guess you're not asking about BB guns... So. My first firearm was a Brno 8x57mm Mauser. Purchased via mail, pre-1966. A good shooter even in military dress. While I was in RVN my father had it sporterized, and let my brother borrow it. Unfortunately, my brother's home burnt down and... You guessed it! There went my pride and joy!

My dad gave me an Iver Johnson Champion .410 when I was nine years old. That same day, he bought himself a used Winchester Model 1911 Widow Maker 12 gauge. If I started selling guns, these would be the last two to go, even though I doubt I'll ever shoot the Winchester again. It was fun when I was about 11 or 12, but these days I'm not real interested in making a new widow.

Marlin 89C, my age was 6 or 7, wasn't actually mine, my father let me shoot it on our farm anytime I wanted, when he passe away in 1998, I inherited it, it was damaged when my house was burglarized in 2003, and I fixed the stalk, and just replaced the extractor, now she work like it did when I was a child. I just put a nice scope on it and fire it every time I have the chance.
