Default First gun

The very first was a single shot bolt action .22. I got it from one of my dad's army buddies, when I was 12. 2 years later I purchased a Marlin 336 T 30-30 from a local discount store (Gulf Mart) for $79.95. Received a Bushnel Banner 4x scope for Christmas. Use about 20 rounds to true the scope Christmas afternoon. Next morning my first (and only) hunting trip at Camp Bullis, TX. One round fired, one deer killed. My dad got orders for Germany, and my two rifles never made it. By the way, my dad made the kill. Oh well...

Hello! My first gun was a rifle. I got a Marlin, can't remember the model number, but it was a .22LR caliber patterned after the M-1 Carbine, meaning it was clip-fed, rather than tube-fed, for my 16th birthday. Pretty accurate, too. I later determined I'd like to obtain an M1 Carbine until I found out what a Piss-Poor manstopper the .30 Carbine cartridge was, & decided to get myself an M1 Garand instead. jd45

if it was a winchester, possibly a Model 1903 or model 63 if it was a rimfire. if it was centerfire, possibly a 1905 and/or model 05, 1907/model 07, or 1910/model 10

Default Glenfield marlin65 or is it Marlin Glenfield? .22 round magazine

I still have this, quite a rifle. I was 18 in 1974 when I bought it. I used to go plinking in the Brazos River and especially after a rain all kinds of stuff floating down with the current. After 2 shots compensation I could hit anything I could see. And yes I found out it is illegal shooting non shotguns into public waterways. Ooops
