Default What to buy?

The problem here is I don't know what is the better investment. I have a spending limit of about $750 and have narrowed it down to three choices of rifles, the AK47, AR15, or an M1? Any of the three would be used as both self defense and sporting rifles. I have always wanted an M1 but with a possible assault weapons ban it only seems logical to get an AR or AK first due to recent event and a possible future ban. Any help would be helpful

Save your money for the next few months until this dies down, and get an AR15.

If worst comes to worst, you can use the money you've saved to get that M-1 in match grade.

Go for the AR, if you can get one at that price now...... I Don't think you will find an M1 for $750....

I don't own an AR, but in today's climate I would hestitate buying one for fear of constraints put on them, somehow -- or even possible confiscation. I don't put anything past our present politicians.

This only my personal opinion - I would buy something other than an AR. Maybe the M1, or maybe Ruger's mini 14.

Right now, today, you can get a field grade M1 Garand for $525 from the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

Or get trampled at the gun shop trying to buy an AR or AK. In case no one has told you, a panic buy of epic proportions started a week ago, most shops are sold out, and sold out of magazines and 5.56 ammo. (I take it you don't get out much) People are charging INSANE prices right now.

Give it a month.

Quite right. Unless there's a provision in your Billionaire Uncle's Last Will & Testament that you need to own an AR for inheritance, stay back.

People might have been reading M-1 as M-1A (or civilian M-14)?

Well if I had the money,
my choice would be the M1 Garand.
