i know Mulie! these East Texas deer are built like elephants! i am definately going to go bigger than a 500 Nitro next year!

Yea i would go to a 35mm just to be safe, you dont want to risk a charge from one of those rouge brush bucks

Go with any respectable quality rifle (Savage, Weatherby, Marlin, Tikka, etc.) that fits you when you shoulder it. Better yet, try to fire some candidates at the range. I would avoid new Remingtons as their quality has slipped the past few years, but pre-Freedom Group models were great. Unless you reload or have money to burn on ammo, I recommend .308 since it is ubiquitous, comes in many flavors and is relatively inexpensive.
