What is the best rifle for primarily target shooting on a budget?

I'm looking to get another rifle and I'm looking to spend about $350-$450. I will probably only use it for target shooting and maybe I little pest control. In your opinion what is the best rifle and caliber to get for my money? (I already have an AR-15 target chambered in .223)

I good .22 rifle. We have a thread going on them currently, track it down and check it out.

And welcome to FTF, stop by the intro section and introduce yourself when you get a chance.

I enjoy shooting .22 but I already have 2 and I want to start shooting at farther ranges and larger calibers. Thanks for the greetings also.

.17 cal is always fun. Also a 9mm carbine is great for budget target shooting if you want to step up from a .22

You could try skeet shooting.

Ruger 10/22 - $250 max at a reputable LGS, and ammo is 500 for $20. Can't beat that. And they are FUN to shoot! :)

A 6mm is a blast to shoot. Much like a 22-250.

I have a savage .17 that I love to shoot and I have mossberg 20 gauge for trap and skeet shooting

You already have a .22 and a .223. Those are probably the most economical rifle rounds available.

I'd think about Jon's rec and look into a 9mm carbine.
