Default weigh in for me yall

here's the thing. i have a nice assortment of firearms to keep me occupied and safe in many different situations. only thing I'm really missing is something to reach out and touch something. I'm thinking maybe the ruger scout rifle (there's something really sexy about the versatility of a rifle with 15 .308 rounds you can calmly put down range accurately) but then you also have the basic and time tested Remington 700. even the remington 770?

weigh in yall. i wanna hear what ever you all have to say...and dont think you have to compare just the rifles ive put here. i am looking bolt action, long range... GO!

I'm digging my 770, the barrel heats up pretty quick though. I've hit a palm sized target at 150 yards every shot, which was only five, but only had five rounds left at the end of the day.

Not many people will agree with getting one though.

ARs chambered in .308 will cost thousands not to include the scope. This HK MR308 costs about 5000 dollars at my LGS, but it is one of the best out there. CZ-550 is also a great rifle. I chose it over the Remington due to better quality of materials. Gun runs better then the Remington when hot. Better harmonics. This one is chambered for .308. You can also get the heavier varmint barrel too. Expect to pay as much or more then the rifle for a great scope to "reach out there". My set up cost about 2000 dollars with the Meopta Meostar 4-12x56 with illuminated dot.

I have a Savage FCP-SR in 308 with a Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50mm scope.

It's a good combination that works for me.

The new Rem 783 chambered in 30.06?

Then you can reach out even further, and

even reload down to 100 grains for varmints.

Remington 700 XCR with a decent scope. (Trijicon, Nightforce, Swarovski)

If you want a good reach out and touch someone round, the 7mm and 300 win mag are about the best there is in the affordability area.

I've wanted a ruger scout rifle for some time now...I realized that I wanted it because of the DM and I came to discover that you can modify a remington 700 to accept DMs. Now if I can find a way to make my ATR accept one, I will be a happy happy man
