The weatherby vanguard is a great rifle that uses the howa 1500 action. I own a howa myself and it's super reliable and super accurate.

Another note: i'm not a huge fan of the weatherby stock. The howa came with a rubberized hogue stock, which is extremely comfortable. If youre keeping your options open take a look at the howa aswell, considering theyre basically the same rifle

My howa is in .223. Super accurate at 100 yrds with just a 4x scope. (4-12x40 coming for x.mas)

My Weatherby Vanguard is a .308 and I love it. It definitely is more accurate than I am capable of. Only gripe is the recoil which I expected on light synthetic stock. It is manageable, just more than I'd prefer.

I have a Vanguard in .243. I put a Bell & Carlson Medalist stock
with the aluminum bedding on it and it made a significant difference
in the rifle's accuracy. It shoots way better than I am capable of.
