Just bought a 32 special winchester made in 1977 it is not picking up the last shell is that telling me that the tube spring is weak or could I put a bigger plug in

What model? According to my reference, in the mdl 94 they discontinued
the 32 Special in 1973 and re-intro'd it in 1992. Do you happen to have a
Model 94 Wrangler?

Anyway---Sounds like the magazine spring has weakened. You should probably replace it, but try giving it a little stretch and see if that fixes the problem at least temporarily. Might just be crud built up in the tube retarding the follower on that last round. Give the tube ID a good cleaning when you have the spring out. Not sure what you are talking about on putting in a "bigger plug".

You could also have some old hard grease binding the spring.

When I run the serial # it says 1977 and it is a model 94 stamped
