Default Wasr 10??

Thinking of buying a WASR10 AK. It's 499 at my local gun shop with a 60 day layaway plan. It sounds like a good gun for the price. What do y'all think? I've never fired an AK??

One of my shooting buddies has one; i have fired it at "the range" many times. I like it. There have been complaints about "canted" sights and such, but i haven't seen a bad one personally. I will advise you not to go too crazy with tacticool accessories, since you are unlikely to add any resale value with them.

As long as you don't expect a 1/2 MOA sniping rifle, you will probably be very satisfied with the WASR10.

Decent functional AK clones that are fun to shoot and even personalize a bit. I just rescued one from a pawn shop for $300. Someone spray painted the entire gun in black krylon. So it is a project for me. Sights are straight. Doesn't look like it actually got shot much. We'll see what surprises lay under the paint though.

I have friends who have them. They have been good shooters. Nothing fancy but very functional.

Thanx guys for the info. I guess I'll get. I think it would be a hell of a lot better than a hi point carbine.

Everyone who is "into" guns should have an AK clone.

I think you will enjoy the greater number/variety of accessories over the hi-point carbine. You can get 20, 30, 40 round regular magazines or spend $85 or so on a drum magazine.

I assume this one has the mounting plate thingy on the left side of the receiver for attaching a scope mount? I like that feature.
