It's very cool, but it's mostly "just because he can".

If you want an excellent target rifle, there are many Savage, Howa, Winchester, and Remington rifles that can be had for the same amount of money. However, none of those rifles are chambered for 7.62x54R, that I know of.

If Savage decided to make a 7.62x54R chambered rifle, that'd pretty much put the Mosin target rifle idea to bed.

it would be cool if someone came out with a modern bolt action chambered in 7.62x54r. i might even have to buy one!

Clearly you've never spent any time in Thailand or the Phillippines.

I am reasonably sure the author didn't spend a penny out of his pocket to build that rifle. No one in their right mind is going to spend $600 to build a rifle that is worth $175 or less.
The M91 was 200gr, the 91/30 has different sights and the PE or PU scopes are cammed for 180gr. We see people all the time buying a cheap modern rifle, changing the stock, putting a flash hider or brake on it, and lets not forget the bipod and scope. Bet they are spending 400.00 + easily. Whats the difference??

It never amazes me what people will do to a rifle. Once again, you couldn't give me a truck load of these old relics.
I'm just not a fan of the Mosin!
