How about a 444 magnum? Its different. Sounds like your wanting something more in the line of a pistol cartridge

Maybe I am wiser than I used to be and no longer take shots at distances I used to consider or maybe my eyes are not as young as they used to be but the 4570 fits my ability quite well. You can load it from very tame all the way up to knock you on the ground. Personally I like recoil and currently are using some Buffalo Bore shells that are quite hot. Another of the many things I like about the 4570 is I know I have enough gun to kill anything I can see. There is nothing on the planet that is safe from the 4570 as long as it is loaded hot enough. The ammunition is a bit pricey compared to the other calibers mentioned but I dare say none of them are quite as fun to shoot.

Enjoy your decision and let us know how it shoots when you get it.
You old Cowboy , , I got the Marlin 1895 .45-70 and just love it ! Kicks like a 12 gauge and it'll put down a "BLACK SUV" with the right ammo !

Picked up my Rossi 92 yesterday. Looks good and cycled the 357s pretty good.

Small world Hunterdan, you are odviously a man of good taste. I picked mine up 1-29-13 It shoots .38 & .357 without any problems, and that was right out of the box before I cleaned it. I have since thoroughly cleaned it and it is a lot smoother and runs great.

Same here. Mine cycled the loads I had laying around from the factory. The action is a little stiff but its not bad at all. I would like to smooth it out more. But I think it will smooth out with use. I heard mention of using lithium grease on the bolt. But so far I like it. I picked up a basket weave sling for it and sling mounts. I plan on upgrading the rear sight with a ghost ring sight. Hoping to hit the range this weekend.

A 45/70 is alot cheaper if you reload like I do! - this round will kill anything in North America and its fun to shoot. I have a Lee press that I use pick it up for 65. at the factory.

Saw 3 boxes of 45-70 on the shelf yesterday over two dollars a round. Only ammo they had.

All BS aside, I have a Marlin 1894 in .357, and a hot load I worked up for it. I don't think I would attempt a shot over 75yrds with it, however.

Got same one in stainless. I think the action sets it apart. Enjoy.
