I thank you all, I have decided on shotgun. I will movie over to the shotgun section and continue.

This is probably a stupid question. Say all I did was practice with my .22 at the shooting range can I pass that .22 skill over to say a 30-30 for hunting?!?! With out the recoil throwing me off target?

You can absolutely pass on your 22 practice on to other firearms!!

Practice shooting slowly, at different ranges, and 'off handed'. These skills will stay with you for a long, long time. You're not supposed to anticipate recoil anyway.

Then I think I am going to put it into a tie with the Marlin 336 and Remington 870. I have to say I am leaning more toward the Marlin.

Just remember if you are shooting Bear ammo, bring a hammer. It helps when the lacquer on the cartridge melts and fuses to the hot chamber.
One technique to use with rifle recoil anticipation is to take a buddie to the range. Have him (without you seeing him) load the rifle, alternating between live and fired catridges. You will soon see yourself jerk when there is no boom.
