I didn't have the carbine so it was longer and heavier than yours. My safety was really tight and I didn't think cleaning was much of a problem

If you do shoot corrosive ammo and think its a pain to clean your just lazy. It takes about 2 min. to take 2 screws out, take the bolt out, and run water down the barrel and chamber. After that clean as usual. I have killed deer at 200+ yards with mine, as far as Im concerned its a pretty good hunting rifle for less than $200. Im just sayin.
Different strokes for different folks you enjoy mosins great no problem and if someone is on a strict budget a mosin would make a good deer rifle but I and other folks prefer shorter lighter modern rifles I love my older savage 110 30-06 with a 22" barrel that weights 6 pounds with out the scope on it

I'm not trying to say a mosin nagant is better then all guns. I'm just saying I like it better then pump rifles. I found pump rifles awkward. I've shot all Remington pump in .243 and .270. I just didn't care for them. And I would not trade my mosin for one because it's the first rifle I ever owned.

The mosin was a pretty good rifle I have to admit, but it just want very practical for the application I needed it for.
Congrats on the new rifle I cant wait to see the range report.

I agree pump rifles are awkward but it takes time getting to get use to it

To me they aren't anymore akward than a pump shotgun, they are popular here in the thick wooded areas for deer hunting where a person my need a fast follow up shot, lighter weight and more reliable than an automatic, I haven't seen a jammed pump yet.
