Default Took a trip to my LGS

So I went to my LGS today to look at getting a bolt action long gun and I already had an idea on what I wanted and the price range for it. So I was looking and found this nice brand new Savage Axis in .308 for $299 no optic which is ok for me. My question is: Is the rifle worth that? Can I talk him down or try to get a deal of some sort? Will the gun last?

It's worth it.

I was going to order it from buds but the store charges $50 for a transfer so it would end up costing more...

I know several Axis owners who are happy with their guns.

Just remember if you are looking for a high round count led-slinger, you may want to step up a notch or two on the spending ladder.

But.....if you know going in that this is an entry level rifle (with incredible performance) you would be hard-pressed to find a better deal.

I talked the guy into throwing in 2 boxes of surplus ammo (40 bullets) with it and got it for $300! He gave me what he called a first time gun buyers discount! Ill take some pics when I get a decent camera!

That was nice of him! And u r happy and will always remember him and go back I suspect (and hope). How could u talk them down from just $299 anyway? By the way, don't judge the gun by that surplus ammo...

I told him it was my first gun and that I'd still have to get an optic and this would be the first time me and my dad would go out into the field and he understood. He threw in the ammo so I could get sighted in. And yes I will be a repeat customer!
