This should give you an idea of how much recoil to expect from a 308.

Mossberg rifles are just not common in my area for some reason. lots of new Mossberg shotguns, but just not any of the rifles.

i have shot a 308 (AK and traditional bolt)....its stout, but not too bad.

but many things affect recoil beyond simply the round. with the MVP, i have handled them....they are very small, light, and handy.....all the elements of a rifle that might jar your teeth loose in 308.

yup, i am certain i would have to order it and wait. or FFL tranfer from somewhere else. i see the mvp in 223 on the shelf quite often, never personally seen it in 308.

The 5.56 / .223 versions are the same, hard too find in my neck of the woods. When the do come in, any of the MVP models, they're sold in a few days!

The 308 is not known for being a heavy recoiling cartridge, even in light weight plastic rifles. If the gun is ill fitting the 308 is a little sharp. In comparison a 20 ga with a 1oz load of birdshot fired from a Mossberg 500 has about 20% more recoil than a 150gr 308 fired from a 7.5 lb gun. The lighter MVP rifles weigh 7 lb.

You are the only one that knows what length of pull is proper for you. None of us know the size of your head. Only you can answer your question.

I have the patrol in 5.56 with a redfield revolution 2-7x33 and I love it. I have a few hundred rounds so far, and it has proven to be accurate, handy, and versatile. I like to stick with the factory 10 rd magazine or 10 rd pmags because the 30 rd usgi mags stick too far out of the bottom for my liking. Hopefully I can get some 20 rd pmags because those seem like they'd be perfect for me. The iron sights are good but I'd prefer a peep rear sight. But combined with my scope and quick detach rings, they do make for good back up sights.
