I love the history behind old beat up rifles. Every scratch, every dent, every stain is a story and I think it's so cool to try to imagine what happened for each little ding. The fact that someone carried it every day and depended on it with their lives makes me respect the rifle a whole lot more than a new off the shelf rifle you get. Plus the fact that you can shoot them makes it so much better

Completely true. The same thing happened with the P38/P1 German pistols, recently imported both the CZ 82 and the P1/P38's were not initially C&R but were added a few years after the first one were imported. Additionally many Commemoratives are C&R's. The P 210-2/Swiss Military, K31/ZFK aka K31/55 were on the C&R list long before they were out of production for 50 years. If they are considered unique in some way they get put on the C&R list. My good friend the late Bruce Stern, a former NRA director, applied and had the K31/ZFK put on the C&R list in the 80's I was speaking in generalities not the many exceptions to the 50 year rule. They send you the C&R book so you will know what the exceptions are and there are many.

Thoughts everyone???

Way overpriced. Look around you can still get one for about $100.00. A U-fix-em from Century for around $70.00..

Hey! I sold my Mosin last year when I lost my job.

Guess what I found in the pawn shop today? The same damn gun. I saw it from across the room, refinished in walnut, and figured, "now just how many could there possibly be, refinished in that same finish?"

Yep. Same gun. I let it stay where it was, I'm in the middle of trying to get moved. Told the man behind the counter that whoever gets it will have a fine rifle.

He says, "you should see the bore! It's horrible!"

I said, "I know. That's my old rifle. It'll still hit cans from 100 yards away. And I never once managed to get a clean patch from it."

Definitely interested in getting a Mosin myself. Lately I've been more and more interested in beautiful historical rifles. "tacti-cool" ARs are nice and all but nothing compared to a nice Mauser or Winchester up on the wall.
