Thanks now I just need to find a dealer willing to have it shipped to them.

IMHO, shoot a Mosin M44 before you buy.

SO MUCH more, for a little bit more...

Sorry but I don't have the opportunity to shoot one and am already set on a 91/30.

Check your local pawn shops and home based dealers for transfer fees. 10 out of 10 times they are cheaper on the fees. http://www.fflfinder.com/FFLSearch.aspx

The 91/30 is the longer sniper rifle, but the M44 is the carbine although the M44 has a flip out bayonet and the 91/30 has a bayonet you must attach and take off. The M44 is sited with the bayonet.

There's a little more to it than that.

The M44 being carbine length, is a great truck gun, or wonderful

for facing down wild boar, as you have your close-in defense bolted

on.

Also, firing the same caliber, 7.62 x 54R the muzzle blast, report, and recoil

are more like a magnum than a 30.06. Many parts,(stock and bayonet,

and barrel excluded) are interchangeable.

Mostly, there's a big fun factor involved. YMMV
