the 45/70 is a great caliber,one of my favorites is my Baikal double in 45/70 ,it is a hit at the range also,i used this year for white tail .i was hoping for a spike horn to charge me ...no luck (: |

That's freak'n beautiful and should handle any charging whitetail without a problem. You can never be to careful IMHO. __________________

Absolutely gorgeous!
I've finally figured out and filed my taxes, and a portion of my return will be promptly spent on a Guide Gun.
I've been shopping around, and it seems I'd have to special order one from dicks or bass pro, I haven't seen any in stock lately (dicks used to have em on the shelf).
Chances are good that I'll order one online and have it shipped to a local FFL. __________________

i have a model 1895 guide gun in 450 marlin, i like it a lot,small,fairly light ,very quick and packs a pretty mean punch. mine does not have the ported barrel(they stopped porting a while ago) but the recoil is tolerable. | |

Well, finally found a pair of them locally, one in blued and one in stainless, both at great prices.
After much much much deliberation, I decided To go with the blued rifle, and will be picking it up tomorrow, I hope.
Why do I feel like a fool for purchasing this damn thing hahaha. I'm gonna love it! __________________

I believe that every man should own a .45/70 even if only for a little while. It's a historic round, a serious caliber and it's just good fun to shoot. Congratulations. __________________
