Don't know if Remington is still doing this? But,I got a used 700VS(.308) because the factory chamber(leade) was excessively long.To the point that the rifling couldn't be reached with 220 grainers. Not commenting on how bullet "jump" effects accuracy.....just sayin,PO "thought it did".
I bought it over the phone(local guy)....figurin what the hey?I'll rebarrel it if he's shot it a bazillion times. He hadn't.I was just shocked at how long it was/is?
All's good, will save the long story but,it was "on the bubble" for brrl replacement 'till a last ditch effort shooting some cast bullits.....now,don't dare "touch a thing".
So,just understand that factory rifles come with some inherent "issues".Finding that "perfect" rifle out of the box can be a hit or miss?
