Hi, I came across this thread because my Dad has a
Stevens 425 in 30 rem. He asked me to check online for him to see what it might be worth, when I came upon this thread. I took down his serial number so you can add it to your list: 1594. I wanted to tell you that he says his gun shoots awesome with his hand loads and he has an old scope mounted on it. His gun is in great shape too, so if anyone knows what the range value is on these guns, let me know. His gun has 30-30 rem softpoint stamped on it.

Tried to post this on leverguns but just joined and have not been approved yet. Hope you get it.
I just bought a poor condition Stevens High Power at a show. It is in 30 Rem and marked 30-30 Rem. The serial number is 3996. These guns must have been hand fitted as this number is marked on the tang under the lever, on the side of the upper tang under the wood, on the lever, on the barrel under the forearm and on the bottom of the bolt. The action is complete and functioning. It came apart easily. The barrel is missing both front and rear sights but the plug screws on the top of the receiver and the upper tang, are in place and look original. I thought the barrel was cut off, but after looking at pics on the web, they all look uncrowned.
This rifle is missing the magazine cap, magazine spring and all the original wood. The buttstock on it is from another gun and does not fit at all and the forend is whittled from a piece of philipine mahogany.

I have #3996 in 30 Rem. It is missing the wood, sights, magazine spring and cap. There are replacement stocks available but the price is $135. I am looking for someone who has a good stock and is willing to trace it or photograph it on graph paper as well as measure the stock. With a graphed tracing and measurements along with the photos I already have, I can make a stock. I only need the surface measurements as the inletting is simply governed by the reciever.
