All A3 variations will handle modern 30-06 rounds. However some early 03s had tempering problems in the steel. Check some 03 sites for the serial # cut off because these early 03s may go BOOM with new ammo.

Man I really like the 03 A3. Everyone I've shot made me really want one. Maybe one day I'll see one worth having when I have the money to buy it. I almost got one on a trade a while back but the guy was wanting way too much and I couldn't get the price where it felt right.

Jon,

If you could hook up with Camp Perry Ohio DCM or the Department of Civilian Marksmanship direct. They have some nice Shooters for sale there every year. Both 1903s Eddy Stones, M-1 Garands. You can check on the qualifications to be able to purchase one. I also has a friend who has several rifles in these series. I could check when you get ready.

Look around gunbroker and see what comparable rifles are selling for. It wont tell you what the rifle your looking at is worth but it can help get you in the ball park. I try to find some in my state as prices can fluctuate in different areas
