Yes it is. It was like that originally. The guns started life as Remington 700 Classic made in the 80's. I really just bought it for the action for a REALLY good deal on Gunbroker. Thank God a lot of folks do not even know what a 35 Whelen is. It turned out that the guy was a local FFL so I just drove to his house and picked it up. It was nicely blued but with some dings and a little wear on the blueing so a collectible it was not which was fine by me. The rifling was pristine.

I took the walnut stock that it came in and sold in GB for a nice sum so the Barreled action cost me less that the price of a new Rem 700 action off Brownells. I picked up the HS Precision stock out of the Bargain Cave at my local Cabelas also for a song because it had some very easily fixed dings. A little epoxy and Alumahyde paint and we were looking new.

My plans was to put it together and shoot it and if it shot well I would keep it as is (which obviously I'm going to). If it didn't I was going to have it rebarreled for the same .35 Whelen round with a nice high end barrel and start from there.

Looks like I won't have to mess with it anymore...

Sweet. It came together well because you knew what you wanted and what you were doing. Congratulations again.

Nice rifle! I'm going to build a matching pair for me & a bud. I LOVE the 35 Whwlen for close range work. It drops them quick & you can eat right up to the bullet hole. Again, NICE rifle & great work!

Ain't that the truth! Love the big holes specially in thick stuff, there is no doubt where the blood trtail is and they don't go far.

Thanks, looking forward to seeing yours when they are done. I'm a sucker for gun porn
