Slings
I make my own slings.

It is a 5 strand braid with closed ends. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/8738Dsc00255.jpg This sling cut from a saddle girt, sort of a chinese handcuff knot, no buckles, easy to slide but grips when you pull it. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/8738Dsc00253.jpg Quietest adjustable sling I have ever had. It is made by cutting 3 strands about 9 inches long in the billet, then giving each a half twist and running the free end through them. This is an old technique used to make horse halters. It works real good for this sling. Lets see what you use. |
Very nice work. How far can you throw a rock with those slings? :p
Just kidding. My slings vary depending on whether they are to carry a gun (shotgun) or to shoot a gun (rifle, deliberate sling) |
I never sling a shottie, just the hunting rifles. I am fond of leather, so I experiment some, and these two just happened to work out, and I used them.

We have some areas here where the only legal firearm for deer is a shotgun. Being able to sling one makes it MUCH easier to drag a deer (Holding it between my teeth was getting hard on the dentures)
The 5 braid is very nice- think I may know- but how do you braid when it is uncut top and bottom? Turn it back through? |
Yes, it is just turned back through. http://mensbraidedbeltsx.blogspot.com/2012/03/how-to-braid-5-strand-mystery-braid.html

I dont drink or smoke or mess with the neighbors wife any more so I gotta find things to occupy my spare time. ;) I run an issue sling on the Garand, an original sling on the TDS, a Magpul single point on the AR but I make the slings for the hunting rifles.
