spend alot of time and about 2 packs of sandpaper flowed up with a good cleaning with alcohol then some stain and about 10 coats of santin polourathane from a spary can dont forget to let her dry at least 7 days so you dont scrach the finsh up re assembling the gun

did a little test fireing with her at a 1in thick track plate with a box of brownbeare ammo 175gr fmg

i ordered this one from impact guns about 150 with shipping and fll fees. other than re finishing i plane to leave her stock

Normally I grimace when people refinish vintage military rifles but your take on it is beautiful, looks very nice. I don't think our Mosin's will be worth much money in the next few years and if they are, it will probably be because they are unregistered guns, not for their historical value so what the heck, make it looks pretty.

The price is climbing. Two years ago, that was a $79.00 rifle from J&G.
The imports are slowing, the collector interest is growing and the price is going to go the way of the $69.00 SKS. (what I paid for my first one)

found this pic from fire power testing this is a 3/16 steel plate the marks are from a 9mm fired from a keltec p11 the holes are from my mosian same brown bear 174 fmj ammo

the stain was minwax color ebony layed it on thick and let dry over night then buffedlet dry anouther 24 hr then reapeted not shoure what wood this is but i dosent like to take a stain just like rock maple
it tuck 3 weeks from start to re assembily with all the drying time inbetween layers
in the sun a nice olive green shows thure inside it looks black



i agree about the price of the mosian going up get them whial supplys last wont last forever kind of like the sks we used to find them for 200 now hard pressed to buy them for under 400 at that price i would just get a ak47
