That's the worst case of "scope eye" I've seen! Hope it heals quick. I had a scope bump me once a long time ago. It was an old Tasco that had a rubber "bumper" around the eye piece so it didn't cut me. I've never crawled a stock since and I mount my own scopes so this does not happen. Be well.

I'm a Paramedic that works full time in an Ambulance.

That case of scope eye is almost as bad as a case I picked up prior to this last gun season for whitetail.

This city slicker came from out of state to stay with relatives and try his hand at hunting. Never shot a gun before and told his cousin that "he'd be fine." Cousin sets him up with a 12 guage slug gun loaded with heavy charged 3" magnums.

Bang.

Ouch.

He got 11 stitches for his efforts...

My nephew did it last year. He was trying to shoot left handed to get around an obstruction in the blind; he got the deer, IIRC.

It did leave a mark on him that looks permanent.

i thought scope bite scar's was ID for background checks when buying a new gun... ive never had it happen. yet. my sister did when she was hunting. she got the deer but, when she went to tell her hubby he reached up and wiped off the blood with a giggle.. wasnt bad just a little cut. but i think thats the only time i know of.

props to you for being man enough to tell an internet forum & post pics! hope it heals up quick.

although that's not the worst scope bite i've seen, in high school i saw the result of a woman who hadn't had proper instruction & or a the scope mounted properly. the scope on her .30-06 split her skin just under her eyebrow about 1/3 the scope circumference gave her a black eye for almost 2 weeks. don't think she ever deer hunted again after that.

Thank God it didn't hit you in the eye. Ouch!

Yeah that's what I was hoping to do, prevent people from having the same thing happen. It hurt like a mofo. And it ruined the whole day. We were only at the range for about 20 minutes.
