Default Scope mount question for Winchester 94AE

I just bought a beautiful winchester 94 angled ejection and I was wondering if anyone that owns one knows whether it needs to be tapped? The guy said he had a scope on it but I dont see the holes . It came with a leopold scope mount for it .

The AE was designed to use a scope and comes 'scope ready' from the factory.

look on top of the receiver and you should see the mounting holes with dummy
screws in them.

How do I date it ? its a 7 digit serial starting with 535xxxx Ive been looking all over the net and cant find that serial anywhere

EDIT: I found another 94 owner with a 583xxxx and it was an 86 so maybe around 85 84.
