When you were shooting those 40 rounds, did you have the scope mounted, and how far off was the Point-of-Impact from your Point-of-Aim (POA/POI), did you get any groups, did you measure them, what quality of ammo were you shooting and what's the twist rate on the barrel rifling?
I just shot at a site of Jill and where I was aiming was real close to POI. But was not really steadily aiming at anything. Just getting some rounds out of her to breakin barrel Ammo was just rem 55 grain. Nothing special. 1 in 9 twist barrel
Good.....55-62 grains should work fine. When you get it tuned in and zeroed with some glass, I'm sure you will try a couple different loads to see what it likes the best. Good luck on the scope hunting safari tomorrow, and let us know how it works out.
In the picture I just mounted one of my more upper end bushnells. Nothing special. The only reason I had that junk BSA on it yesterday I was just trying it to see if would work for some reason. But I did put a new Nikon scope on layaway today. I forgot what series but it's 2.5* 12 by 40. And has 100 moa of adjustment.
