That's pretty vauge dude( btw welcome to the forum) it probably depends on the use of the rifle. .223 is more widely available.

My vote is for .223 also

Ballistic ally, 22-250 is superior, but that would only really matter if this was a bean field rifle. With the info given, I'd say .223.

Sorry your right I should've been more detailed its for coyotes out of a blind

.243 its a flatter shooting , longer distance gun and there is still ammo on the shelves for them . Its just a all around better yote gun.
I own one in .223 and its a great shooter just wish I would have gotten it in .243 for yote hunting

How far are the shots going to be?

thecollecter 03-04-2013 09:13 PM

Well no more than 350 yards I don't feel comfortable with anything farther

purehavoc 03-04-2013 09:21 PM

well than the .223 will be fine under 350 yards , Just remember .223 ammo is hard to get your hands on these days and when you do its expensive due to demand .
.223 I would zero it at 25 yards and that should keep you at 1.5" low at zero , 3.5" high at 150 and 12.2" low at 350
.243 25 yard zero will be 1.5" low at zero , 3.3" high at 200 and 6.8" low at 350
22-250 is going to be in that range of 1.5" low at zero ,4.7" high at 200 and 3.9" low at 350

Out of the 2 you choices you have picked I would go 22-250 the ammo will be higher at normal pricing but comparable to each other now with the price gouging I am seeing but should still be available on the store shelves from what I have seen
Oh the above calculation were used with Barnes triple-shock in each caliber

Shots no longer than 350yds. either cartridge will do the job on coyotes. 22-250 will be a bit flatter with more energy than the 223.
