DON'T DO IT!!! These are very collectable and some in very good shape are going in the upwards of $1200. If you do you will regret it down the road!

If there no rust use a product like breakfree clp on it. Blueing does take way from the old patena of a old well used rifle. It does soak in the bear metal and will hold down and rust. If you find down the road you just have to have a short rifle you can buy something like rem model 7 or cut one down. Hey check out Boonie's Safari Sling. It is a very good way for a hunter to carry there rifle with no hands on but still have died on ready across your chest. Works well to when hands are needed for moveing brush out of the way while walking and draging a deer out.
