Hello all, i'm new here, and I have a question. I am new to hunting but for $500 I was offered a savage model 12 204 ruger with a heavy barrel and accutrigger.short action. a 6-24x50 scope and a bipod. Is it worth it? |

just small game. woodchucks stuff like that. I'm just unsure of how much the gun actually is worth. I did some google searching and theres difference prices so I cant really get an accurate price for myself as i'm fairly new to guns and hunting. |

Lots of need to knows here, Just what model 12 savage is it ? there are several variations. Try Savage's website for a general idea of new value, you usually pay less than their suggested retail. Gunbroker.com has lots of used guns listed. This might give you a ballpark idea of value. As to the scope, what is the brand ? value is largely based on whether the scope is from a manufacturer know for making good scopes, Leupold, Nikon, Burris etc. or a company that sells low end stuff like Barska, BSA, NC Star Etc. The bipod's value is also dependent on manufacturer. If you can be more specific I am sure you will get a lot of help and advice here. Hope this helps. |

Ron gave you good advice. I can tell you that the NcStar scope is worth next to nothing. The bipod isn't worth much either. Have you looked at Gunbroker.com for similar models like Ron suggested? |

Still a lot of variables that could enter in, but I would offer him $400 and see if he bites. Up to $500 probably wouldn't be bad, depending on the condition.
Most of the members here will try to help you help yourself rather than do the research for you. |
