Default Savage 111 300 win mag

I'm seriously thinking of picking one of these up.
I can get one, new, with a 3-9 scope, for around $500.
Anyone had any experience with one of these?

If it is a package deal with the scope from Savage just buy the gun and get a decent scope for it. The scopes that come with the package deals are bottom of the line scopes for the most part, and will not last or have very good optics.

I would also suggest a scope in the 4x16 power range for a 300WM,unless you aren't going to be shooting over 200yrds,then why would you want a 300WM. There are plenty of other calibers that would serve better at shorter ranges, and be alot more fun to shoot.

The scope that comes with it is just your basic Bushnell 3-9.
I was thinking I may need more magnification.
I'm looking to shoot 500 yards or more.

Just an update:
At our local Gander Mountain, they wanted $499 for the rifle with scope, and they tell me they would have to have $549 for one without a scope.

What????
