Max,
Do not want to take much of your time since I have never shot a 338 Lapua in the Model 110 Savage Rifle. But I have shot plenty of 338 Lapua Bolt Guns. I also have a Savage Model 110 in another caliber. They are fine rifles! SO with that said, I do not know how you could go wrong. The 338 Lapua is one
HEEEEEEEL of a round. I was at the Sig Academy shooting a demo on 90 lb. Steel Targets at 300 yards and it was knocking the targets down with the steel stands attached. Until George Harris Range Master and Head Instructor for Sig who told me to shoot them, told me to stop!!!! What power they have! What are you going to use it for?

well I have a 111 model in .270 and absolutely love it but I love target shooting and hunting as well as the fact that I just love shooting/collecting guns I have never had a problem with my savage but yeah I wanted a .50 BMG but lets get realistic the one I want is like 6-10k haha this I can shoot for cheaper and can also hunt with it at the same time. I figuered its like about 1300 compared to like 6 grand lol so plus it has that savage quality that me and you both know and love thanks for the input! if I get it I will post pix/vids for ya!

Doesn't Rothey10 shoot whistle-pigs at 1,000 yards with his custom built .338LM?

I live less then 10 miles from Sig. I know a few guys, but have never met the gentleman George Harris you mention. He is listed no where on their site. Just an observation.

Max, just what will you be hunting that would need the sophistication of the .338 Lapua?
A Free Range Red Stag Rut Hunt in New Zealand?
The Chamois hunted in the Austrian Alps?
IMHO, the .338 Lapua Mag is a great terrorist exterminator but overkill for meat collection.
Here's some comparisons:
Sorry, I only had a spent .270.

lol Well if you would have said that from the start, by all means.......maybe you better buy 2 of them, one for backup. lol
I'm not as skeptical about you using this for hunting as others might be. I have shot a lot of deer with a 270, and a lot with a 7mm Rem Mag, I can't say I ruined any more or less meat with one or the other. Go big or go home. hahahaha
