Default Savage 11/111 Hunter XP

I am looking at buying the Savage Hunter XP in 30-06. I am a little hesitant as I previously owned a Savage 110E in 30-06 and the recoil was almost unbearable. I own Browning A-Bolt 300 Win Mag without a muzzle break and it is far easier on recoil than my old Savage was. If there are any owners (or anyone who has shot it) of the Hunter XP I would like to know how you like it. Thanks Jolly

I haven't shot the savage but I have an older model of Remington 700 BDL in 30-06 and its amazing to shoot. I would say if your ever gonna get a Remington I would look at the older ones because I believe that their craftsmanship is much superior to the newer ones.

I agree the older 110 kick like a mule but savages newer guns is not like the older ones in recoil

I agree. I have a Remington 788 in .243. It used to be their lower end rifle. It is a much better rifle than their current lower end model, the 770, no comparison.

Love the old Remingtons too but so does everyone else. Just went to another gun show recently and every good old Remington was going for an arm or a leg, guess the demand for them is incredible. Bigdaddy, thanks for the info on the new savages. Just leary after the one I owned years ago, glad to find out they have made some improvement.

It makes sense why there going for so much though. The old Remingtons are works of art that will out last the user by far the new ones though have really dropped off in not only quality of wood stalks but also the materials they make the whole gun out of
