I have a rifle that has santa barbara houston tex on it , it is chambered in 270 win it has a bull barrel and other than it is extremely heavy it is a good shooter. I cant find any info on it anywhere. if anyone knows anything about this gun I would appreciate a reply, thanks

Santa Barbara actions were made in spain and imported here. Different companies would build them up and brand them.

the stock was put on this gun at either bishops of fajens gunstocks here in warsaw mo they have both since closed its an ugly heavy stock and I want to put a synthetic stock on it but dont know where to get one or if thats possible , any thoughts

It's a Mauser 98 action IIRC so most any place that makes synthetic stocks should have what you need. Sorry I can't be too specific at this time.

I used to work with a gun smith in Richardson Tx. He was the only one I knew of at the time who distributed the Sant Barbera barreled action. The invester who owned the inventory I never knew. I had several of the guns back in 1973, some I re barreled with Schillen barrels in 25/06, 6mm/06, 257 roberts. Anyway They all had Roberts stocks, the ones I did not put Schillen barels on were stamped Richard Texas and had Star barrels on them. I assume there were others who smithed the same barreled action but I cannot tel you where they were imported from and who the importer may have been.
Hope this helps!

Hi from Mexico... I also have a Santa Barbara action, I have it in 25-06 rem, stamp on the top of the barrel in front of the receiver is a Bishop an on the bottom of the barrel is stamped RG (betwen stars), also on the barrel but hidden by the stock is stamped, Federal Interarms co.
Do you know what kind of barrel is it?? This rifle comes to Mexico from USA.

I have a 98 Mauser with a synthetic stock and would like to put a wood stock on it. Not a cut down military stock, Post some pictures and maybe we can work something out.
