Ruger M77 Hawkeye

Thinking about buying a Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 300 win mag. Anyone have one or shot one? If so what are your thoughts?

I do not have an Hawkeye in the 300 mag., but I do in 7mm-08 & 7MM Rem mag.. I could not be more pleased in these two hunting rifles. They shoot nice groups, have much improved triggers, I love the bullet proof Ruger rings, and have had great customer service with the Sturm Ruger Corp. I am 100% satisfied with the Ruger Hawkeye rifles.

Sorry, don't own a 300 mag Ruger, but do own a Hawkeye 257 Roberts. Nice rifle and pretty much agree with R-bolt's post. I don't hunt, just shoot paper so getting a decent group out of a rifle is my goal. Lightened the trigger pull in mine and free floated the barrel, which helped its accuracy. While it doesn't match accuracy of my old Ruger 77 tang safety rifle, I sure wouldn't hesitate using it for hunting.

I don't see how you could go wrong with a ruger m77 . I like the fact that they have the claw extracter.

Be careful. You are talking 118 year old technology.

yep like that. That is one of the main features I like on a bolt action rifle. Old time proven technology is the best in certain situations.
