Based in large part from the overwhelming praise of the CZ-527, I went ahead and ordered that rifle. Thanks to all who chimed in.

Would the Leopold VX-2 4-12 x 40 AO be a good choice of scope for it?

Good for you. I was surprised at the praise this Ex-Iron Curtain country gets for their guns, and am impressed with the quality.

That would be a good choice. I have a Sightron SII Big sky on mine. 6.5-20x42mmAO may be a bit much for the hornet.

This may be a good option also. 3-12x42mm

I am a big fan of Sightron scopes. All the adjustments are repeatable, very good glass, lifetime guarantee. I've had one on my .308HB for 4 years now. Everything is the same as the day I mounted it. I can pull a card, get the data, move X amount of clicks up to gain distance and afterwards back it off the same amount of clicks and hit the same spot at 100 yards again.

CZ/ Brno has always made some of the best firearms in history. This is 1945 Brno.

The VZ24 that came before the Germans invaded was exceptional.
