No. And do NOT shoot lead bullets in the Ruger, or learn what lead fouling does to the action. Jacketed only.

And when all else fails- read the manual. About page 3.

The Ruger 44 Carbine is A nice little gun . I,v had three or four over the years .
If you reload be careful and don,t load to hot and never use lead bullets .

Thanks guys... Didnt know about the no lead bullet thing.... According to the manual it likes hot loads.. "Medium Velocity loads are not recommended, it will not reliably cycle the action"
I found this out myself, a buddy of mine gave me some light plinking reloads, and it wouldnt even cycle...

I shoot mine with 240 gr. JHP sitting on either 22 gr IMR 4227 or 18.5 gr 2400 with great results. Tight groups and DEVASTATING results. The size of the holes it punches in pumpkins puts 12 gauge slugs to shame.

I use old Norma 236 gr factory ammo or hot 180 and 200gr handloads. Just hunt with it so it doesn't get shot much (check zero and hit the woods).

1966 Sporter model
