Hey Guys -

I am strong in the market for .44 Mag lever action rifle and I've been looking as hard as I can for the last couple of months to find some answers as to what to buy.

For the longest time I thought that that it was a slam dunk on the Marlin 1894, but I have been increasingly worried about reports of their declining quality - specifically bad ftf problems. All of the troubles associated with their move from CT and the terminations of long-term skilled workers has me a bit spooked.

On the other hand, I don't know enough about Rossi to have much confidence either. Their R92 series looks wonderful, but.....

Does anybody have any any informed input about the real state of Marlin lever guns quality on the one hand, and on the other, about whether Rossi levers are of a quality approaching what Marlin shouldbe/used to be?

My buddy bought an 1892 .45LC Rossi for 1/2 the price of a U.S. made Rifle. He loves it. I bought an EMF 1892 in .44-40. W/ a 24" barrel, it does not give up much to the .44mag.
